“But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. This will be a time for you to serve as witnesses…. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will have some of you put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of my name. Yet not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives.” Luke 21:12-13, 16-19 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/luk.21.12-18.NET
If the end is indeed coming, Christians should be able to identify those persecuting them for identifying with Jesus. One of the signs of the end times is persecution. This persecution arises from sharing Jesus as Savior with men so that they can be saved and not suffer eternal condemnation for their evil deeds, including the persecution of Christians! The end times are the Christian’s time to serve Jesus as His witness. Not only will the government persecute Christians, but within our own family, we will be hated for insisting that Jesus alone is the means to peace with God. Christians must testify to the appearance of God in Jesus, Who alone can save men from their sins, for He alone died on the cross as a sacrifice for sins and rose from the dead, proving His sacrifice was accepted. This truth is to be faithfully proclaimed by God’s people for people to be saved and for Christians to gain their lives. It is not fear or cowering before men that proves the work of God saves Christians. It is by identifying with Jesus before men, as Jesus identified Himself before men, that proves we are Christians causing men to hate us and God to welcome us into His eternal dwelling place. Are these the end of times? Are men persecuting you for telling them about Jesus?
