Hebrews 5.7-10 describes, while He lived on earth, anticipating death, Jesus cried out in
pain and wept in sorrow as He offered up priestly prayers to God. Because He honored God, God answered Him. Though He was God’s Son, He learned trusting-obedience by what He suffered, just as we do. Then, having arrived at the full stature of His maturity and having been announced by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who believingly obey Him. Because Jesus honored the Father, the Father answered the prayers of the Son. As we ask anything in Jesus’ Name, the anything that will honor the Son and glorify the Father, the anything that will facilitate the kingdom of God increasing upon earth as it fills heaven, He, Jesus, will hear our prayers and grant us what we asked of Him. Isaiah 64.7 observes, no one calls on Your name or strives to lay hold of You; for
You have hidden Your face from us and have given us over to our sins.
This chapter, like many of the previous chapters, seems to speak to our country and our church today. All of the many things going wrong in our culture has not driven many yet to the point of perpetual prayer. Who is striving to lay hold of God? (more…)
Psalms 91.14-16, explains, because he loves Me, says the Lord, I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges My Name. He will call on Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.
The blessing of the Lord, who does not want that in their life? I know I certainly do. How then do we receive God’s favor? (more…)
Mark 9.29 records, He replied, this kind can come out only by prayer.
The disciples did not see Jesus pray for the demon to be removed, they only saw Him rebuke the demon and it left the boy. Why then did Jesus say the disciples failed to remove the demon by their rebuke because they had not prayed? (more…)
John 6.27 commands, do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures
to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.
Too many men who claim to be Christians are working for food that spoils. Not enough men who claim to be Christians are working for food that endures to eternal life. (more…)
Proverbs 28.9 promises, anyone who turns his ear away from hearing the law —
even his prayer is detestable.
Everyone prays but not everyone is heard. The Lord is holy, He is God. He is not Santa Claus. Those who pray to Him must be those who listen to Him.
Isaiah 6.8 records, I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who should I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.
Oh that everyone in the marketplace would hear God ask them this question. In truth, God has transitioned this question to a command telling us all to go and make disciples. When God lived among us as one of us, Jesus the Savior, He said He came to change His followers into fishers of men. (more…)
Proverbs 28.9 describes, anyone who turns his ear away from hearing the law — even his prayer is detestable.
Nearly everyone prays, even the atheist in his darkest hour. We all pray because we all have times in our life where we have run out of resources to help us, so we cry out to Him Who is outside of our resources and has the power by His resources to help us in our time of need. (more…)
Proverbs 28.9 describes, God has no use for the prayers of the people who won’t listen to Him.
Everyone prays. Sometimes or all the time but everyone prays because everyone is broken. All of us hope, want, God to intervene in our life even when we are doing all we can to control its outcome. (more…)
