1 Peter 1:2, 14–17 NIV “Who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood… As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’ Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.”
Peter reminds us you didn’t choose God — God chose you. The Father set His love on you long before you ever reached for Him. The Spirit pursued you, convicted you, awakened you, and set you apart. And Christ Himself sprinkled you with His blood to claim you as His own.
That means your identity is not in success, work, money, your past, or your failures.
Your identity is this: a chosen man, made holy by God to live holy for God.
But holiness isn’t passive. It’s not a feeling. It is the deliberate refusal to return to the man you used to be — the man driven by lust, anger, selfish ambition, fear, or ignorance.
God says, “Be holy because I am holy.” Not perfect — set apart, different, distinct, aligned with the character of Christ.
Your calling is to reflect the image of Jesus in real time:
-
obeying when it’s costly,
-
resisting when temptation whispers,
-
leading your family toward Christ,
-
speaking truth when silence is easier,
-
and showing the world through your life a glimpse of the God who saved you.
A holy man becomes a powerful witness. A holy man becomes a useful man. A holy man becomes a kingdom man.
And Peter reminds us: this world is not our home. We live as foreigners, answering to a Father who judges impartially. That means every day counts. Every decision matters. Every moment is worship.
Run Today’s Play: Lay down anything in your life that looks like the old you.
The sin you excuse.
The habits that weaken you.
The attitudes that darken your witness.
Then step deliberately into holiness:
Choose obedience over impulse.
Choose sacrifice over comfort.
Choose Christ’s honor over your own ease.
Today, act like the chosen man God says you are.
Be holy. Be different. Be His.
And let the world see the God who saved you through the life you live before them.
