Christians Prioritize God’s Law Above Man’s Law

“Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come near, for Yahweh your God has chosen them to minister for Him and to bless in the name of Yahweh; and every dispute and every assault shall be settled by them.” (Deuteronomy 21:5 LSB) https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB# Deut._21:5

In Israel the Judicial system was to be managed by the priests. Why? Because the law came from God and they were the keepers and teachers of the law. They would share the word of God then judge men by that word when that word was broken. Today, the judicial system is comprised of those who attend law school. They are supposedly experts in the law just as the priests were the experts in the law in Israel. Judges today focus on laws created by man whereas Israelite judges focused on laws created by God. The law of God trumps the law of man, at least for the Christian. And this is the main point, Christians are to judge their behavior and the ways of our society, not by the laws of men but by the laws of God. Christianity defers from Judaism in that all Christians are priests, ministers of God’s word, who are to both live His law and also to teach His law to themselves, their children, and their neighbor. Christians, all Christians, are God’s chosen ministers for blessing in His Name all peoples whom they bring to God the Father and to teach all people everything Jesus commanded us. We live our lives not solely by man’s laws but by the higher law of God. God’s word is our first and highest standard for conduct, for truth, and for teaching. When the world’s ways conflict with God’s ways we choose God’s ways lest we fail to differentiate ourselves from the world thus dishonoring God and jeopardizing our relationship with God as His children. We never want Him to say of us, depart from Me I never knew you!
