Do We Really Believe We Are Good Enough To Live With God?

“Lord, who may be a guest in your home? Who may live on your holy hill? Whoever lives a blameless life, does what is right, and speaks honestly. He does not slander, or do harm to others, or insult his neighbor. He despises a reprobate, but honors the Lord’s loyal followers. He makes firm commitments and does not renege on his promise. He does not charge interest when he lends his money. He does not take bribes to testify against the innocent. The one who lives like this will never be upended.” Psalms 15:1-5 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/psa.15.1-5.NET

Based upon my own merits, I could never live with God. How is it any person thinks themselves good enough to live with God? I know my thoughts and heart’s desires are unholy, ungodly, and unacceptable and would never be considered righteous or holy. No way could I live with God based on my merits were He to judge my thoughts, words, and deeds. Indeed, the One True God promises to judge every word from my mouth! Woe is me if not for Jesus. All of the evil I have ever done in thought, word, or deed, He was punished for my doing at the cross. The death I deserve, the hell I deserve, Jesus took upon Himself so that I could be pardoned and not judged guilty for all of my evil thoughts, words, and deeds. More than this, the perfect life Jesus lived in absolute obedience to the will of God as recorded in the word of God He appropriates to me, making me the man of God that can live with God, for God now sees me as one who has indeed led a blameless life. This is the work of Jesus for me. My guilt for disobedience paid. The righteousness I needed was given to me. My destiny is sure that I shall live with God because Jesus was indeed crucified for my disobedience, and He rose again from the dead to guarantee my future life with Him. I will live with God forever, not because I am a blameless man today but because Jesus forever makes me blameless through His life, death, and resurrection.
