1 Peter 1.2 promises, God the Father has His eye on each of you, and has determined by the work of the Spirit to keep you obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus. May everything good from God be yours!
Oh, the goodness of God, the love of God, the grace and mercy of God so lavishly poured out upon those who love Him and have been adopted by Him through Jesus the Savior.
God watches us and that for good. How wonderful, what good news. The Creator and Sustainer of the universe keeps watch over us individually, personally, as a hen broods over her chicks. His watching is to keep us, to keep His children in Christ so that on Judgement Day they pass from death to life, not condemned, instead rewarded, and welcomed into His eternal home.
How does this happen? First, He keeps us positionaly in Christ. Jesus’ death on the cross, the culmination of a perfectly lived life on earth as Man, was the final sacrifice necessary for reconciling men to God. Jesus’ work alone can wash away the consequences of our disobedience.
Jesus’ work alone can be substituted for our works of disobedience: His righteousness appropriated to us so that we can stand before God the Father Almighty blameless and without sin. God the Father keeps His adopted children under the new covenant of grace and mercy obtained through the blood spent by Jesus Christ the Savior.
Second, God continues to live within us by His Spirit Whose primary objective is to work through us the life of Jesus. As Jesus perfectly obeyed while living on earth so too the Holy Spirit is perfecting the children of God through empowering them to obey God. The Word of God reveals the will of God which the Spirit empowers the people of God to accomplish as the work of God.
Our obedience is our physical sign that God is in us, with us and accomplishing through us the salvation He made for us through Jesus the Savior.
