God’s Play For Obeying His Mission

Colossians 4:2-6 NIV  states, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.https://bible.com/bible/111/col.4.2-6.NIV

God has prescribed for us a plan for executing our mission, the Great Commission, the command to and responsibility of every Christian. We can pray for the execution of these verses into our lives and then join a band of brothers to walk them out. The ministry of CBMC greatly facilitates the execution of this prescription. First, we need a list of people we are praying for coming to Jesus as Savior. CBMC has a ‘ten most wanted’ card we use to make this list. Each of us should pray daily for specific people that we regularly encounter so that they will come to Christ and we will have the opportunity to speak about Christ. This is the second task: to pray for daily encounters to share Jesus with people. We need to be bold and courageous yet wise and loving as we engage the people in our world. God wants all people saved. All people are born dead to God and headed for eternal suffering in hell. Our mission, the Great Commission, is to convince people that Jesus is their only hope for reconciliation with God. We do this through acts of service, loving unconditionally, and sharing the gospel courageously until everyone believes and begins to obey Jesus as Lord. This is why we must behave as Jesus lived, the third assignment. Serving and loving people creates the audience for sharing God’s love for them with people. We must constantly show Jesus so that people will want to know Jesus. The final act in this prescription is to speak God’s truth clearly, honestly, and truthfully. We must know God’s word and share His truth according to His word so that our words reveal the person of God and the work of God in a way that gives glory to God. We are God’s ambassadors. He has told us how to effectively bear fruit for Him in our world. Here is His plan for building His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. We just need to do it.
