(1 Co) 1:18-21 CJB “For the message about the execution-stake is nonsense to those in the process of being destroyed, but to us in the process of being saved it is the power of God. Indeed, the Tanakh says, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and frustrate the intelligence of the intelligent.” Where does that leave the philosopher, the Torah-teacher, or any of today’s thinkers? Hasn’t God made this world’s wisdom look pretty foolish? For God’s wisdom ordained that the world, using its own wisdom, would not come to know him. Therefore God decided to use the “nonsense” of what we proclaim as his means of saving those who come to trust in it.”
We desperately need God’s truth in a confused world.
For decades, our culture has increasingly questioned whether absolute truth even exists. Today, the confusion seems greater than ever.
Whom do you believe?
Government? Scientists? Universities? Social media? Artificial intelligence? Your favorite news source?
One expert says one thing. Another says the opposite.
The result is confusion. People don’t know whom to trust or what to believe.
Without an objective standard of truth, we become like a boat without a rudder or an anchor. We drift wherever the strongest cultural current takes us.
But God!
God has not left us guessing.
God’s Truth in a Confused World
Paul says the world, through its own wisdom, could not come to know God.
That doesn’t mean human knowledge is worthless. God has given us minds to think, study, investigate, discover, and learn.
But human wisdom has limits.
Most importantly, human wisdom cannot save us.
The world looks at the cross and calls it foolishness. God calls it His power for salvation.
Jesus really came to earth. He lived among us. He died for our sins. He rose from the dead.
The resurrection declares that Jesus is who He claimed to be and that His saving work was accomplished.
Our hope, therefore, isn’t rooted in changing human opinion.
It is rooted in Jesus Christ.
We Must Choose Whom We Will Believe
Jesus said, “I AM the Way—and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.”
That’s an absolute claim.
Jesus doesn’t merely claim to know truth. He identifies Himself as the Truth.
That means every Christian man faces a choice.
Will God’s Word determine what you believe, or will the opinions of people around you?
When Scripture conflicts with your desires, which wins?
When God’s commands conflict with the culture, whom will you follow?
When circumstances make God’s promises difficult to believe, whom will you trust?
The world tells us satisfaction can be found apart from God. Pursue more pleasure. More possessions. More recognition. More power.
But none of those can reconcile us to God or give us eternal life.
Jesus offers something the world cannot.
Forgiveness. Reconciliation. Purpose. Peace. Hope. Eternal life.
At the center of God’s truth in a confused world is not merely a set of ideas.
It is a Person.
Jesus Christ.
We must repent of our rebellion against God and trust completely in Christ and His work for our salvation.
Then we build our lives upon what He says is true.

Take it back to God’s Word.
Read it. Study it. Believe it. Obey it.
The world will continue changing its mind.
God does not.
