July 4th Thoughts and Prayers for America

“There are times, Jeremiah, when I threaten to uproot, tear down, and destroy a nation or kingdom. But if that nation I threatened stops doing wrong, I will cancel the destruction I intended to do to it. And there are times when I promise to build up and establish a nation or kingdom. But if that nation does what displeases me and does not obey me, then I will cancel the good I promised to do to it. So now, tell the people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem this: The Lord says, ‘I am preparing to bring disaster on you! I am making plans to punish you. So, every one of you, stop the evil things you have been doing. Correct the way you have been living and do what is right.’” Jeremiah 18:7-11 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/jer.18.7-11.NET

O’ America founded by those who loved God and came here to worship Him freely and continually without government interference or mandate. How far you have strayed from the commands of your God. The religious diversity of our founding was unified in its pursuit of the One True God in Jesus the Savior. Not every person, but most people agreed to and adhered to the commands of God found in the Scriptures. The most basic tenets of freedom, personal responsibility, and equality were etched into our founding documents. Like the Christian life, America did not perfectly live her Christian ideals, but she fought to implement them over time. Like many in the Christian faith, America has grown weary of this struggle against the flesh that wars against the Spirit resulting in a departure from the dogged pursuit of obedience to everything Jesus commanded. America’s founding was blessed because America built her churches first and filled them regularly so that her people would follow her God wholly. Now America despises her churches. She tears down her values to live wantonly. O’ American church, humble yourself, pray, seek God, and turn from your wicked ways, then God will hear our prayers, He will forgive our sins, and He will heal our land.
