“‘But I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who will do according to what is in My heart and in My soul; and I will build him a faithful house, and he will walk before My anointed always.” 1 Samuel 2:35 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/1sa.2.35.LSB
Who longs to be a faithful priest unto God in Jesus the Savior? I do. What does a faithful priest look like? He does what is on the heart and soul of God. What is that? It is the salvation of the world. God desires that no one should perish for eternity but for all people everywhere to repent, believe, and obey Jesus as Savior of the world. The priest of God puts into action the Great Commission, the mission of all Christians. This mission is making Jesus known to the world, elevating Him so that He can draw all men to Himself through His Spirit Who has come to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This actively engaged Christian in the work of God, is promised by God to bear much fruit, beginning in his own household among his own people. This faithful priest, Jesus has made all of His children priests for building His kingdom, is promised eternal life in the eternal kingdom of God beginning with heaven now and then life upon the new earth when Jesus returns to live forever with His people on earth. Do we want eternal life? Don’t we all want to live forever with those we love the most? Life forever is the offering and the promise of God through Jesus the Savior for all who enter the narrow path, take the difficult road, are comfortable with walking only among a few now, while carrying our cross, denying ourselves, working diligently, passionately, consistently, at seeing His kingdom come and His will done on earth as it is in heaven. Eternal life is for those who persevere in Jesus, faithfully following Him, living as He lived when He lived among us as one of us but has now gone before us, risen from the dead, to prepare a place for all those who have loved Him by doing His will.
