Ezekiel 16:8, 11-13, 15 NIV ‘Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine… I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was honey, olive oil and the finest flour. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen. “…..‘But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his.” https://bible.com/bible/111/ezk.16.8-15.NIV
Why can’t the Lord’s goodness be enough for us? Why are we so discontent and always wanting more? God loves us and is good to us. His ways are freedom, health, and love. Yet we want power, esteem, and lust for things we need not and should not have. Why can’t we just be content? Selfishness ruins our relationships, yet relationships are what we want and need the most. When we turn away from loving God first and worshipping Him most, we find ourselves discontent, for we are poor gods who are unable to satisfy but are always craving more. The Lord alone is able to fill us with fullness of joy, peace, purpose, and love. His ways bring us life, and that life is abundant. We must trust Him. We must satisfy ourselves with Him. We must have faith that carrying our cross and losing our lives really is the way to having abundant and eternal life. God is so good. God is so faithful. God is so generous. He truly is all we need if all we will seek is Him.
