“Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea: Thus says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God’s creation:….As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent.” Revelation 3:14, 19 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/rev.3.14-19.CSB
Long-time Christians all know about the lukewarm Laodiceans. These are the Christians Jesus threatened to spit out of His mouth on judgment day because they were neither hot for Him nor cold towards Him but lukewarm in their acknowledgment of Him. Why was this? Perhaps because they did not believe He was the originator of God’s creation. The Man God Jesus always wanted people created to be like Him and to fellowship with Him. He did not use billions of years and the evolution of fish to man to make those He loves most like Him in His image. The Bible teaches that Jesus spoke and that we became like Him in form to be like Him in function: to serve, love, and praise His God and ours, though He is One God. We disbelieve the teaching of the beginning of our book, and so we fail to live zealously with the commands of Jesus given toward the end of His book. The Lord rebukes us for our unbelief and disciplines us by our poverty of Spirit, yet He commands us to faith, repentance, and obedience. We must embrace all of God’s teachings so that we will embrace all of God’s ways, and then we will live passionately for the Lord’s glory upon earth as it is in heaven.
