Obedience Identifies The True Child Of God

“Today the Lord your God is commanding you to keep these statutes and ordinances, something you must do with all your heart and soul. Today you have declared the Lord to be your God, and that you will walk in his ways, keep his statutes, commandments, and ordinances, and obey him. And today the Lord has declared you to be his special people (as he already promised you) so you may keep all his commandments.” Deuteronomy 26:16-18 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/deu.26.16-18.NET

When we became Christians by inviting Jesus into our lives as Lord and Savior through a prayer of repentance and petition for mercy, we entered a relationship with God whereby He adopted us as children to live with Him and for Him forever. This relationship that began with faith in God that He loves us, came to save us, and is willing to pardon us continues by faith that He will always forgive us and will one day welcome us into His home. Our obedience to God proves this faith in God. By obeying God, we declare before all people that God’s ways are right, just, and to be obeyed because He exists. He will judge and reward all people based upon their relationship to Him, proven by their lives lived for Him. Obedience to God declares our allegiance to God. If we love God, we will obey His commands. Obedience to God identifies our familial relationship with God, for as the Son of God obeyed His Father perfectly, the children of God likewise seek to obey the Father perfectly now that they, too, are empowered by the Holy Spirit for obedient living. Obedience identified the perfect Son of God, and obedience identifies all the children of God as being born again by God. Those who refuse to obey God prove they are not the children of God, for they do not do what their Father commands because they do not love Him. How do we know the commands of God? They are recorded in the word of God, which is enlightened to us by the Spirit of God and the church of God for obeying God together as the family of God.
