“The Lord of Armies says this: “Think carefully about your ways. Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house; and I will be pleased with it and be glorified,” says the Lord. “You expected much, but then it amounted to little. When you brought the harvest to your house, I ruined it. Why?” This is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. “Because my house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house.” Haggai 1:7-9 CSB

The American Church is NOT in ruins, but it languishes. Its influence has diminished, and its appearance to the world is confusing, for it promotes what is an anathema to God and what is pleasing to Him. President Obama was the first president to say we are no longer a Christian nation. That was many years ago, and the Church has not grown in influence since those days. With Trump’s reelection, perhaps a new day will dawn. His work is to clean out the corruption in Washington. The Church’s work is to remove the influence of evil, taking captive every idea to make it obedient to the teaching of Jesus Christ in society. The Church must rebuild the house of God, the depth and breadth of disciples in America who obey everything Jesus commands. God did not bless Israel because they sought their own profit at the expense of not serving God. The Church has suffered this same propensity, with so many seeking their own gain rather than investing abundantly in time and money to seek and save the lost. Let us repent, turn from our wicked ways, and obey the Lord. Let us experience the pleasure of God by engaging the work of God to the glory of God because we love our God first and foremost. Let us hear from foreign observers like Alexis de Tocqueville in the 1800s from France, who observed America as great because the American Church is full. It is not that we seek full churches but people who love Jesus most, so we love being with the people of God, praising the goodness of God, and eating from the table of God. Let us truly make America great again by engaging the work of the ministry commissioned to the Church, the Great Commission.
