“Maybe they will pay attention and each of them will stop living the evil way they do. If they do that, then I will forgo destroying them as I had intended to do because of the wicked things they have been doing. Tell them that the Lord says, ‘You must obey me! You must live according to the way I have instructed you in my laws. You must pay attention to the exhortations of my servants the prophets. I have sent them to you over and over again. But you have not paid any attention to them. If you do not obey me, then I will do to this temple what I did to Shiloh. And I will make this city an example to be used in curses by people from all the nations on the earth.’”” Jeremiah 26:3-6 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/jer.26.3-6.NET
The United States is not the new Promised Land, but it is a blessed land founded by people who came to love and worship the Lord God of heaven in Jesus the Savior. This nation has been different from all other nations since its founding because it was based on biblical principles from a worldview that saw God as being concerned for and loving all men everywhere. He is the Creator Who made everyone unique and gifted for freedom to worship Him and fulfill their purpose. We have long since turned away from this God and are making laws that prohibit worshipping Him freely and laws that encourage us to disobey what God condemns. Our society reflects the poverty that comes with disobedience and rejection of God. All other countries reflect this same poverty of freedom, morality, and economy because all other countries reject the One True God as God by forming laws and encouraging behaviors that ignore the Word of God and His ways He designed for us. Though the church exists everywhere, it does not prosper everywhere, but where it does, it lives and dies by God’s word and teaching obedience to His commands. We are in a time, in a place, teetering on a precipice of returning to God or rejecting God. The time is now for the church to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways so that He might hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land.
