“”But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and stand again for your allotted portion at the end of the days.””Daniel 12:13 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/dan.12.13.LSB
Daniel was a man of God with whom the Lord greatly delighted. Daniel was promised eternal reward while he lived for eternity on earth. This living for eternity while living on earth is why Daniel was encouraged to continue doing what he was doing, for what he was doing pleased God. What did Daniel do? He sought the Lord daily through the Scriptures and prayer. Daniel’s highest priority was knowing God so he could do God’s will. This priority should be normative for every Christian. Second, Daniel did his work with complete integrity. Daniel served his earthly masters well, so his testimony about his God had integrity. Daniel was not ashamed of his God while serving men as best he could in line with the will of his God. When the will of God and the will of man collided, daniel chose the will of God. This should be the Christian attitude as well. We are to work with complete integrity at our jobs so that when we identify ourselves with Jesus at our jobs, and we must, our testimony also has integrity. The best workers in the marketplace should be Christians, for they work unto the Lord and not merely unto men. When the will of men, the requirement of the work, conflicts with the will of God, we are to choose God’s will. When this occurs, and it is rare for most, even if it means the lion’s den or the fiery furnace, we trust God for the outcome for He and not our employer, Who meets all of our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. Our eternal reward is based upon our faithfulness to the work of God while serving men who help us meet our needs on earth. Being a Christian, a lover of God is seeking God daily, honoring God, doing our best for men, and taking care of our needs. Simple but not always easy.
