Ezekiel 2:6–8 (NIV) “And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people. You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious people; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
Every generation needs men who will stand when the culture bows, who will speak when others stay silent, and who will obey God when it costs them comfort, reputation, or success. Ezekiel faced a nation that no longer wanted to hear from God—but God still wanted to speak through a man.
Men, that’s our moment now. America is rebellious. Our homes, workplaces, and even our churches can feel like fields of thorns and dens of scorpions. Yet God still says, “Do not be afraid.”
I confess—I’ve been afraid. Afraid to offend, afraid to stand out, afraid to lose friends or influence. But no more. I don’t want to be the man who fits in; I want to be the man who stands out because he stands with God.
God’s call is clear: “Open your mouth and eat what I give you.” That means we must feed daily on His Word until His truth fills our hearts and fuels our courage. Then, speak it—at work, at home, in your community—whether people listen or not. Revival doesn’t start with the crowd; it starts with one man who refuses to compromise.
If change is really coming to this nation, it won’t be because politicians or programs turned things around. It’ll be because men of God started proclaiming the gospel again—unashamed, unafraid, and unrelenting. When we speak truth in love, some will believe and follow Christ. Others will resist or even persecute. But either way, obedience brings glory to God and reveals who truly belongs to Him.
So, brother, eat the Word. Speak the Word. Live the Word.
Be the man God can depend on in a rebellious world.
