Jeremiah 1.9-10 records, God reached out, touched my mouth, and said, “Look! I’ve just put My words in your mouth—hand-delivered! See what I’ve done? I’ve given you a job to do among nations and governments—a red-letter day! Your job is to pull up and tear down, take apart and demolish, And then start over, building and planting. MSG
We have been called by God to serve God. All of us who claim to be Christians have been chosen by God to be a kingdom of priests. The priesthood of all believers is core to being a Protestant Christian. The priest has been given God’s Word. Indeed, all of humanity has been given the Word through the record and availability of the Scriptures.
John 12.26 states, anyone who wants to serve Me must follow Me, because My servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves Me.
God feels like an option. We do what we want to do with apparently little to no consequence for our behavior; at least in the short term. I am not speaking about breaking the laws of society but about doing the will of God in society.
If there really is a God, it seems like He could and even should demand our loyalty and allegiance and that we would willingly give Him both. (more…)
John 12.25 promises, those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.
Mohammad twisted this promise from God reinterpreting it to mean that his followers whose suicide kills others will automatically qualify for heaven. What kind of a god would make this offer? Only one whose true mission is to steal, kill and destroy. (more…)
Isaiah 43.10 describes ‘You are My witnesses,’ declares the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He.
How do we get to know God better and more personally is the universal question among those who truly believe in God. Religion provides a means to that end sometimes and in some ways. The disciplines of Bible reading and prayer are certainly helpful to knowing God better.
God wants us to accomplish our objective so has given us two clues for knowing, believing and understanding Him. (more…)
Colossians 3:24 reminds us that it is the Lord Christ Who is going to pay you, giving you your full portion of all He owns. He is the one you are really working for.
Work is inherent to our existence. If a man will not work neither should he eat, at least not for free from the church doles – we have the government to take care of that!
In all seriousness, it is work that determines a man’s wealth in a free society. And wealth determines a person’s comfort and opportunities.
Work in itself is good and not evil though many have been taught otherwise. God made man then set him to work in His pristine environment that guaranteed success. It was through the rebellion that work suffered a curse and therefore became inherently more difficult by yielding thistles and thorns in addition to good crops instead of just good fruit as God designed.
The real problem with work is the propensity to define ourselves by the results of our work and to use the fruit of our work for our own pleasures and wants. (more…)
