““I will set a sign among them, and I will send some of those who survive to the nations—to Tarshish, to the Libyans and Lydians (famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to the distant islands that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. They will proclaim my glory among the nations. And they will bring all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,” says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels. And I will select some of them also to be priests and Levites,” says the Lord.” Isaiah 66:19-21 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/isa.66.19-21.NIV
The Great Commission has always been the mission of the people of God. God is the maker and sustainer of all people. God died on the cross to reconcile all people to Himself, paying for them with His blood and proving His promise of eternal life through His resurrection. Israel did not fulfill its purpose to live as a holy people so attractive to the world that it would run to Israel for the knowledge of the One True God and how to live according to His ways. The Church has now been sent to the nations to tell them of God’s love in Christ, His work through Christ, and His promise of eternity for those reconciled to Him by Christ. All those in Christ have been appointed priests to make God known and bring the world to God, reconciled and restored to Him through the work of Jesus the Savior. This is the purpose of all those who claim to be Christian, regardless of vocation. The occupation of every Christian is to represent Jesus to the world, sharing His life, death, and resurrection with the world until all of the world humbles themselves before Jesus as Savior and Lord of all. Faithfulness to this work pleases God our Savior and ensures our welcome into His eternal dwelling place as good and faithful servants of God our Savior.
