What Do People Say About Our Christianity?

“Then King Darius wrote to those of every people, nation, and language who live on the whole earth: “May your prosperity abound. I issue a decree that in all my royal dominion, people must tremble in fear before the God of Daniel: For he is the living God, and he endures forever; his kingdom will never be destroyed, and his dominion has no end. He rescues and delivers; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for he has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 6:25-27 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/dan.6.26.CSB

Daniel was a faithful testimony to God’s holiness, power, and goodness. His witness was so consistent that the only complaint men had about him was his love for God displayed in his devotion to God. The attack against Daniel for worshipping his God was supposed to cost him his life, but God performed the miraculous, leading the king to make the proclamation and observation recorded in our verse today. This leads to our reflection on how well our testimony is received by those around us? Are people praising God for the good works and character they experience from us? Is the only negative complaint about us that of our devotion to God and subsequent holiness and purity of lifestyle that results in being an excellent and humble person at work and pleasure? Daniel lived for the glory of God and the increase of His reputation among the pagans he worked for and lived with. This should be our attitude as well as witnesses of the Lord Jesus. Those among whom we work and live should be so impacted by our lives that they give credit to our faith and honor Jesus. When we live righteously, and it is hard, through those hard times, God can be best seen by others, bringing praise and honor to Himself. Are we willing to live daily for His glory and occasionally through the lion’s den of suffering so that others see Jesus and exclaim His goodness?
