Choose To Listen Or Choose Destruction

“When he finished the address the Lord had commanded him to deliver to all the people, immediately the priests, the prophets, and all the people took hold of him, yelling, “You must surely die! How dare you prophesy in the name of the Lord, ‘This temple will become like Shiloh and this city will become an uninhabited ruin’!” Then all the people crowded around Jeremiah at the Lord’s temple.” Jeremiah 26:8-9 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/jer.26.8-9.CSB

The people of Israel didn’t want to hear God’s planned consequences for disobeying Him. The people wanted to kill the one sent to them, warning them of disaster unless they repented from their evil ways and started obeying God. Obedience to God was the best choice they could make. Instead, they wanted to kill the voice telling them their lives were in conflict with God’s will. This is how many people respond today to the word spoken by the true Church. The Church that proclaims the Bible as God’s holy, infallible, inerrant truth that we are to obey because that is God’s provision to us for knowing Him and doing His will is maligned, hated, and opposed vehemently by those who live in disobedience to God’s commands recorded in the Bible. The disobedient seek to shut down the voice of the Church so that they can continue to live in disobedience, pretending the consequences to come are not accurate or won’t apply to them. The true Church must continue to share the plain word of God because Judgement is real and hell is forever. God loves everyone and wants all people reconciled to Him. We must listen to His voice, repent of our disobedience, and begin living in obedience to His commands, empowered by His Spirit for doing so if we would live at peace with God. Our way or God’s way is our choice. The consequence of our choice is forever. One leads to eternal life of health, happiness, and blessing, and the other to everlasting misery, suffering, and pain. We can listen to God or ignore Him, but He will judge us based on that decision according to the standard He gave us in the Bible.
