Galatians 3.28 proclaims, there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female – for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
Christianity is the ONLY world religion to record in its sacred writings that all people are equal in value before the One True God. Hinduism separates humanity by caste because of the teachings of their gods. Islam separates people by gender and religion giving permission to its adherents to mistreat either according to the writings of their prophet.
Only Christianity proclaims God made all people from one man and one woman and that this same God suffered the punishment all people deserve in order to reconcile all people, male and female, black and white, Jew and Gentile to Himself through Jesus the Savior.
I know, Christians haven’t always lived according to these principles. That is true but that doesn’t change the reality that what God says in His book, the Bible, is that all people are of equal value and worth and that all of His people are to love all of His people all of the time even as they love themselves all of the time.
We are all hypocrites. We all believe we should be more than we are willing to do to get there. Christians are no different. This isn’t to justify racism, discrimination or even random acts of unkindness. It just explains that we all need a Savior, no one is perfect and we all fail to obey God perfectly resulting in people misunderstanding Who God is and what God wants from us.
Christians have a responsibility to know God’s word so they can obey God’s will in order that the confusion over what God wants can be minimized. But alas, not all Christians will read the Bible so they can know, understand and obey God’s will for them.
This doesn’t change the fact that Christianity needs to be allowed to be promulgated among the nations with absolute freedom and encouragement. All governments, all people should encourage the Church to preach the gospel in season and out.
No where else is the message of love one another as I have loved you proclaimed. No where else are the words of God recorded for us to put others before ourselves. No where else are we told that no greater love has a man than this – that he lays down his life for his friends.
This is the message that Martin Luther King Jr. spoke. Its actually the message Mahatma Gandhi spoke since he had no such message from which to draw from his native Hinduism.
It is this message of universal love and value that comes alone from the One True God through His Church that the world desperately needs. Why are so many resisting it?
