Do You Compromise Your Integrity For Financial Gain?

“He appointed judges in all the fortified cities of the land of Judah, city by city. Then he said to the judges, “Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for a man, but for the Lord, who is with you in the matter of judgment. And now, may the terror of the Lord be on you. Watch what you do, for there is no injustice or partiality or taking bribes with the Lord our God.“” 2 Chronicles 19:5-7 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/2ch.19.5-7.CSB

Israel’s judges would be the most similar to our legislators that they would have had in their system of government. They did not create law but were to implement God’s law where disputes between people occurred. Our founding fathers did not implement God’s law in establishing the American constitution, but they kept its core principles in mind, particularly the value of humanity and their purpose to pursue God and obey Him as He designed them to do. Our current government is morally corrupt, having become greedy and loving money more than God. Nearly every wealthy legislator has used their position to become a millionaire because their salary is insufficient to make that possible. The headlines continue to fill us with stories of world billionaires buying influence among our legislators. This greed begins in our hearts whenever we compromise our integrity for financial gain. We start with the smallest things, like stealing money from Netflix and Spotify through ‘family’ accounts when we don’t live in the same household. God in Jesus said our chief competitor to loyalty to Him would be our loyalty to money. We cannot serve God and money, He said. Our country needs a return to the righteousness of God prescribed for us in His word. The Church must herald God’s commands, and all who claim to be His disciples must likewise live and teach them to everyone until we all obey Jesus’ commands. In this way, we show our God to be holy and ourselves His holy children, thereby glorifying Him on earth as He is glorified in Heaven.
