“If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will stray from the words of knowledge.” Proverbs 19:27 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/pro.19.27.NET
Everyone wants wisdom, but what is wisdom? Wisdom is knowing God and doing His will. This is wisdom because before God, we will stand to be judged for every word spoken, every thought entertained, and every deed done. This judgment will result in an eternal reward for those who loved God and obeyed His commands and eternal condemnation for those who ignored God and refused to love Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength proven by their love for their neighbor as themselves. What feeds our understanding of God and increases the knowledge of His will? It is the word of God. How many Christians read God’s word daily to increase their knowledge of Him so they can obey everything He has commanded? So many refuse to give God any time to read His word so they can pray back to Him His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. The purpose of reading His word is to increase our knowledge of God so that we see His wonder and love Him more, causing our hearts to want to glorify Him most on earth. We glorify God when we do His will, and His will is for no person to go to hell but for all people to be reconciled to Him through Jesus the Savior. We facilitate this will of God when we share the gospel with our neighbor and then help those who respond positively to grow in their faith by encouraging obedience to God’s word even as we live His purposes out ourselves. Our country is in decline because we ignore our God and accept the ways of men. These ways for which our Savior died will lead to the condemnation of all who follow them. We are wise if we seek God, share Him with others, and encourage one another to love God and love our neighbor by obeying Jesus and encouraging everyone to do the same.
