God’s Requirements Are Clear And So Must Our Choices Be

“”And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you except to fear the Lord your God by walking in all his ways, to love him, and to worship the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul? Keep the Lord’s commands and statutes I am giving you today, for your own good.” Deuteronomy 10:12-13 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/deu.10.12-13.CSB

Simple and straightforward is the Lord’s command to us of what He requires from us. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and so too is this requirement from God for us. Obedience to God should be our top priority. He is our Judge and will hold us responsible for our lives and how we live them according to His will. His grace and mercy are immense daily, so we love Him for He is so good and has done so much for us, the most of which is taking the consequence of our rebellion against Him upon Himself if we will love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength and seek to love Him by obeying His commands. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things; therefore, He alone should be worshipped. We do not worship ourselves, who can do nothing of significance, nor do we worship gods of our own creation who exist to make us feel good or give us power over others. Only one God has faithfully made Himself known to humanity since making us. His revelation crescendoed in Jesus the Savior, but all of His works are recorded for our understanding of Him so that we can apply ourselves to His ways in the Scripture. These Scriptures took almost 1500 years to write by more than 40 authors because God’s revelation of Himself has been gradual until Jesus. These Scriptures, however, remain consistent in instructing God’s ways and describing His character. There is only one God; we call Him Jesus, and if we will live forever, He alone must be our God Whom we obey, love, worship, and serve.
