1 Samuel 3.21 observes, the Lord continued to appear in Shiloh, because there He revealed Himself to Samuel by His word.
Most of Christendom struggles in their intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. Most Christians believe in Him but too many do not really know Him. When we share Him as Savior, we seek converts, those who will agree with our doctrine and affirm such with their prayer. However, we are very poor at making disciples. The secret to knowing God, and experiencing God, is the result of reading the bible and putting it into practice. This was Jesus’ life. He came to do God’s will as described in God’s Word. This is why the Bible references all the prophesies He fulfilled. Jesus knew the Scriptures and did them.
As a result of His obedience, His intimacy with the Father was inseparable. Likewise, if we want a greater encounter with God, we have to be always in the Word of God, except when we are obeying His word before men. The Scripture is where we receive our instruction. Our daily life is where we put those instructions into practice.
We too often think God only cares about us not doing evil. Our greatest evil is when we ignore Him and fail to do His will. This He does care about greatly. What is His will? To love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as our self. The greatest love we can show our neighbor is to bring them to Jesus as their Savior.
We cannot love God without being with God and we cannot be with God apart from reading, studying, meditating and learning the Scriptures. We love our neighbor best when we show our neighbor God’s love and testify to that love by sharing the life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus with them.
