Jesus Is King of Kings and Lord of Lords: The Final Victory of Revelation 19

(Rev) 19:1, 6, 13, 16 CJB “After these things, I heard what sounded like the roar of a huge crowd in heaven, shouting, “Halleluyah! The victory, the glory, the power of our God! Then I heard what sounded like the roar of a huge crowd, like the sound of rushing waters, like loud peals of thunder, saying, “Halleluyah! Adonai, God of heaven’s armies, has begun his reign! He was wearing a robe that had been soaked in blood, and the name by which he is called is, “THE WORD OF GOD.” And on his robe and on his thigh he has a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

What John describes is not quiet. It is not reserved. It is overwhelming.

It is the roar of a vast multitude—louder than any stadium, greater than any earthly celebration—shouting praise as they witness the full revelation of Jesus Christ.

Men, imagine the loudest game you’ve ever been to… and multiply it beyond measure.

That is the sound of heaven when Jesus is revealed as King.

The Revelation of the King

John continues:

“He was wearing a robe that had been soaked in blood… ‘THE WORD OF GOD.’” (Revelation 19:13 CJB)

“KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:16 CJB)

Jesus is not coming back as a suffering servant.

He is coming as the reigning King.

He is the Word of God—the final authority over all creation, the fulfillment of every promise, and the judge of every man.

Understanding the Blood on His Robe

The image of Jesus’ robe soaked in blood is striking—and important to understand correctly.

This is not the blood He shed on the cross for our salvation.

That sacrifice already accomplished redemption for those who believe.

Here in Revelation 19, the blood represents judgment.

It reflects the defeat of those who rejected Him, resisted His rule, and refused to acknowledge Him as Lord.

This aligns with the broader biblical picture of God’s justice—where those who persist in rebellion face the consequences of rejecting His authority.

Jesus Is King of Kings and Lord of Lords—The Defining Reality

Here is the dividing line of all humanity:

Who is Jesus to you?

Because in that moment, there are only two responses:

  • A vast multitude rejoicing
  • A multitude facing judgment

The difference is not background, wealth, or opportunity.

The difference is recognition and response to Jesus as King.

The Authority of the Word of God

Jesus is called:

“THE WORD OF GOD.”

This means:

  • He is the truth
  • He is the authority
  • He is the standard

To reject Scripture is to reject Him.

To twist Scripture is to resist Him.

But to receive the Word of God as truth is to receive the revelation of God’s grace.

God has spoken—not to confuse us, but to reveal Himself.

He has shown us:

  • Who He is
  • What He has done
  • What He requires

So that we can be reconciled to Him.

Two Outcomes: Judgment or Joy

Revelation 19 forces every man to face reality:

There is no neutral ground.

Those who reject Jesus as King will face judgment.

Those who receive Him will rejoice in His reign.

The Bible makes clear:

  • Those who reject Him face eternal separation
  • Those who trust Him are forgiven, restored, and brought into eternal life

And here is the beauty of the gospel:

Those who rejoice in Revelation 19 are not perfect men—

They are redeemed men.

Men who have been washed by the blood of Jesus shed at the cross.

Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords—whether you acknowledge Him or not. The question is not if He reigns. The question is whether you will rejoice in His reign… or resist it.
