Two Destinies: Eternity with God or Eternity Without God

(Rev) 21:3, 7-8, 27 CJB “I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See! God’s Sh’khinah is with mankind, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and he himself, God-with-them, will be their God. He who wins the victory will receive these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the untrustworthy, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those involved with the occult and with drugs, idol-worshippers, and all liars — their destiny is the lake burning with fire and sulfur, the second death.” Nothing impure may enter it, nor anyone who does shameful things or lies; the only ones who may enter are those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

Eternity with God or eternity without God—this is the unchanging reality declared in Revelation 21. The Word of God does not leave room for confusion, debate, or alternative outcomes.

“See! God’s Sh’khinah is with mankind… they will be his people, and he himself… will be their God.” (Revelation 21:3 CJB)

This is the future for those who belong to Him:

God dwelling with His people.
Perfect relationship.
Eternal life in His presence.

But the same passage gives the other reality:

“Their destiny is the lake burning with fire and sulfur, the second death.” (Revelation 21:8 CJB)

There are only two destinies.

No middle ground.
No second chance.
No alternative path.

Who Enters and Who Is Excluded

God makes it clear who enters His eternal kingdom:

“The only ones who may enter are those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” (Revelation 21:27 CJB)

This is not about being “good enough.”

It is about belonging to Jesus.

And the text is equally clear about those who are excluded:

  • The cowardly—those who refuse to identify with Christ
  • The untrustworthy and liars
  • The sexually immoral
  • Idol worshippers
  • Those who persist in rebellion against God

This is not a list to single out certain sins while ignoring others.

It is a picture of a life that refuses to submit to God.

Eternity with God or Eternity Without God—The Unchanging Truth

The One True God has spoken—and He does not change.

Every religion, every philosophy, every cultural movement that tries to redefine truth is attempting to rewrite what God has already declared.

But God has given us His Word so that we may:

  • Know Him
  • Understand His will
  • Align our lives with His truth

To reject His Word is to reject Him.

To reshape it is to resist Him.

But to receive it is to receive His grace.

The Way to Eternal Life

The good news is this:

Reconciliation with God is not complicated—but it is costly.

Jesus made the way.

  • He died for our sin
  • He paid the full penalty
  • He rose from the dead
  • He offers forgiveness and eternal life

The response required is clear:

  • Repent—turn from your sin and your way of living
  • Believe—trust fully in Jesus as Savior and Lord

This is not just a moment.

It is a new life.

A life that seeks to obey God—not to earn salvation—but because salvation has been received.

The Evidence of True Faith

Revelation says:

“He who wins the victory… I will be his God, and he will be my son.” (Revelation 21:7 CJB)

Victory does not mean perfection.

It means perseverance.

It means continuing to:

  • Confess Jesus as Lord
  • Follow Him in obedience
  • Stand firm even when it costs you

This is the narrow road Jesus spoke about.

It is not easy.

But it leads to life.

The Role of the Word, the Spirit, and the Church

God does not leave us alone in this.

He gives us:

  • His Word—to guide us
  • His Spirit—to empower us
  • His people—the Church—to walk with us

Together, they help us grow, endure, and remain faithful.

Eternity with God or eternity without God is not decided later—it is revealed by how you respond to Jesus now. Do not delay. Do not drift. Choose the narrow road that leads to life.
