The Mission of Jesus: A Message, A Movement, and A Mission for Every Man

(Mrk) 1:15, 17, 34 CJB “The time has come, God’s Kingdom is near! Turn to God from your sins and believe the Good News!” Yeshua said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you into fishers for men!” He healed many who were ill with various diseases and expelled many demons, but he did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who he was.”

The mission of Jesus is clear from the very beginning of His ministry—He came with a message, launched a movement, and gave every follower a mission.

Jesus is not merely a teacher—He is God in the flesh, sent to reconcile rebellious men back to Himself. Humanity is broken and separated from God, but through Jesus’ perfect life and sacrificial death, restoration is now possible.

The Message of Jesus

At the center of the mission of Jesus is a message:
Repent and believe the Good News.

God’s love is not abstract—it is proven through Jesus. He lived perfectly so He could die sacrificially, offering Himself as the payment for our disobedience. Because of Him, God now pardons all who come in humility.

This message demands a response:

  • Turn from rebellion
  • Trust in Jesus
  • Live in obedience to His commands

This is not partial belief—it is full surrender. We don’t just accept forgiveness; we embrace a new life under God’s authority.

The Movement of Jesus

Come, follow me, and I will make you into fishers for men!” (Mark 1:17, CJB)

The mission of Jesus created a movement—ordinary men becoming ambassadors of God.

This movement is not limited to pastors or a religious elite. Every man who follows Jesus becomes:

  • A messenger of God’s truth
  • A representative of His Kingdom
  • A participant in His redemptive plan

The Church exists for this purpose—not just to gather, but to go. Every believer is now part of a global movement of reconciliation.

The Mission of Jesus

Yes—the mission of Jesus becomes our mission.

Jesus healed many and cast out demons, “but he did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who he was” (Mark 1:34, CJB). Even demons recognize Him—but most men do not.

Why?

Because God has chosen to reveal Himself through His people.

Men are not born knowing God—they must be told. That is why every follower of Jesus is called to:

  • Seek the lost
  • Share the Gospel
  • Make disciples

This is the Great Commission. It is not optional—it is the defining work of every Christian.

Why This Matters for Your Life

The mission of Jesus answers the deepest questions men wrestle with:

  • Purpose? You are here to represent God and advance His Kingdom.
  • Provision? God supplies what you need as you prioritize His work.
  • Priorities? Seek first His Kingdom, not your comfort.

You were not saved to sit—you were saved to serve.

Stop treating your faith like a side activity.

Run today’s play:

  1. Repent – Identify any area where you are resisting God’s authority. Turn from it.
  2. Follow – Recommit to obeying Jesus in your daily decisions.
  3. Fish – Intentionally engage one person today with the Gospel. Pray, speak, or invite.

Ask yourself: Who is one man God has placed in my life that needs to hear about Jesus?

Then act.

Because good and faithful servants don’t just believe the message—
they carry it.
