Knowing The Will of God is Easy. Doing the Will of God is Hard.

“But I will show you the one to fear: Fear him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the one to fear!…. “And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God…..Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing his job when he comes…… And that servant who knew his master’s will and didn’t prepare himself or do it will be severely beaten.” Luke 12:5, 8-9, 43, 47 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/luk.12.5-47.CSB

Many people want to know the will of God. They want specificity for things like jobs, living location, and spouses so that they don’t make a mistake with their life, whatever that might mean. The will of God is worked out in specificity, but it is given generally. Wherever we are, among whom we are with, that is the specificity. So, what is the will of God? It is simply the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The two are inseparable because the first is expressed through the second, and the second is motivated by the first. We are to love God first and most, practically demonstrated by loving our neighbor as ourselves. Obedience to God is how we love God. We know what He requires when we spend time with Him, learning His word and praying for His application of that word through our lives. We love our neighbor best when we seek to save their soul from hell. Loving, serving, and sharing the gospel with our neighbor is the most loving thing we can do for them, for their eternal destiny is determined by their response to Jesus and His commands. This is obedience to the Great Commission, the work the Master expects to find His servants doing upon His return or when He measures us upon our return to Him. Woe to that person who keeps his relationship with Jesus private, discreet, quiet, and ashamed, for that person will be overlooked by Jesus when He returns to reward the faithful, the obedient, and the unafraid to identify with Him publicly for bringing to Him publicly as many people as possible for salvation. Loving God is loving people into the eternal kingdom of God. This is the will of God for His people.
