Living As A Christian Drunk Or Sober?

Sober up as you should, and stop sinning! For some have no knowledge of God – I say this to your shame!” 1 Corinthians 15:34 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/1co.15.34.NET

Sobriety is having our senses fully alert, not skewed by anything that would keep us from sound thinking and action. Not too many Christians are drunks or drug addicts, yet not many are engaged in praying for, serving, and sharing with those who don’t know Jesus as Savior to win people to Jesus as Savior. Not working to win people to Jesus is living like a drunkard, disengaged from reality, and unproductive to society. The Christian worldview is believing and living with the knowledge that apart from Christ, people spend eternity in suffering and torment. All people live forever. It’s just a matter of location. Those who know Christ, who love Him and obey His commands, will live forever with Him, ultimately on the new earth where they will enjoy love and life and peace with God and all those people from all time who have also loved God and obeyed His commands. Those who rejected Jesus, who did not orient their lives toward obedience to God, will suffer excruciating pain every day forever. Knowing this, Christians should be sober about their relationships, particularly with the unsaved, for their end is destruction and misery. If we genuinely love people, we will work to see people love God. It is our shame if we have not done all we can to see everyone reconciled to God in Jesus. Our means for this end is to pray daily for people we love, serve them consistently to show that love, and share with them as often as possible the love of God demonstrated to all of us in Jesus the Savior.  It is a sin to us if we don’t do everything we can for all that we can to bring people to Jesus.
