Working To Earn God’s Highest Rewards

“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit while still in his mother’s womb. He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go before him in the Spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.”” Luke 1:15-17 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/luk.1.15-17.CSB

Our eternal life is with God in heaven and eventually upon the new earth. This is where those in Christ will live forever. Therefore, our goal should be to live as well there as possible, particularly if the reward we will receive there is determined by our efforts here. God in Jesus encouraged us to store treasure in heaven. For what purpose? For reward and remembrance of how and to the degree we served Him here. John was great in the sight of the Lord. How can we be great in the sight of the Lord? We can be filled with the Holy Spirit. We can do those things that lead to a greater depth of Holy Spirit control rather than indulging those things that grieve the Spirit and gratify the sinful nature. We can make our occupation, regardless of our vocation, the seeking and saving of the lost just as Jesus did. This work bears eternal fruit and receives God’s great reward, for He desires nothing more than for everyone to come to everlasting life, and we are His ambassadors for reconciling men to Christ. God is making His appeal through us for people to be reconciled to Christ. This includes encouraging and instructing fathers on leading their families so that their children have the highest probability of walking with Jesus when they grow older, not departing from the faith. The most powerful influence in the home for knowing Jesus and living forever with Him is a godly father who makes home discipleship his highest priority after his time with his Heavenly Father for knowing Him and obeying everything He has commanded. The man of God works everywhere to see everyone come to Jesus and walk in His ways. The man who gives his life to making disciples will be highly rewarded and honored in the kingdom of God when He rewards each person according to their deeds while living on the earth.
