Famous sales teacher Zig Ziglar used to teach against stinkin’ thinkin’! This thinking was unhelpful for success because it focused on self rather than others and on what could not be done rather than what could be done. Our default nature is stinkin’ thinkin’ because we think first of ourselves and not of God and His will being done on earth as it is in heaven. We think about our ability instead of God’s, so limit our faith, taking little risk or action toward building His kingdom upon the earth as it is in heaven. The Lord delights in the obedient; without faith, it is impossible to please Him. To have the mind of God, we must be in the word of God. We must increase our understanding of Scripture to increase our faith, for faith comes from hearing God’s word. The more we know Scripture and apply it to our lives, the more we know God, will love Him and will see Him increasingly active in us, working through us to accomplish by us all that He purposed for us so that He receives all glory on earth as He does in heaven. The man of God loves the word of God, does the will of God for the glory of God, and experiences the reward of God while living in the joy of the presence of God all his days.
