God Expects Us To Read His Book

Deuteronomy 17.19 describes, it is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the Lord  his God, to observe all the words of this instruction, and to do these statutes.

The king of Israel, after his appointment, was to write his own copy of God’s law from which he was to read daily so that he knew what it said in order to do what it said. Today all people everywhere have the possibility to access the Scriptures in a language they understand. Not all can read. Not all have legal access and not all have the Scriptures in their primary tongue but the Scriptures do exist in over half the world’s known languages. (more…)

The True Christian Has A Mind For Action

1 Peter 1.13 commends, with your minds ready for action, be sober-minded and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Not complicated really how we are to live. We, who hope in the return of Jesus the Savior because we believe in His resurrection from the dead after He perfectly and thoroughly conquered the penalty of sin which is death. We are to live different lives because we are different people, aliens and strangers in this world seeking a better home, a home that lasts forever with God and all those who have ever loved Him by obeying His commands from all time in all places. Who We Seek to Please Determines What We Do

Galatians 1.10 asks, am I now trying to persuade people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Paul identifies the root cause of our problem in the America Church. The culture has become increasingly distant from the person, character and work of Jesus Christ. The culture has now reached the place of hostility toward the Church. (more…)

Is Perfection Even Possible?

Romans 7.19-20 observes, I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do. Now if I do what I do not want, I am no longer the one that does it, but it is the sin that lives in me.

There are some who claim that as Christians it is possible for us to no longer sin. I do not adhere to this belief. While I have been declared dead to sin and am recognized as such by God, it is not the presence of sin that is dead in me but the consequences of sin that is no longer condemning me and the power of sin over me has been broken. The Great Commandment is Fulfilled by Doing The Great Commission

1 Chronicles 28-9-10 commands, Solomon my son, get to know well your father’s God; serve Him with a whole heart and eager mind, for GOD examines every heart and sees through every motive. If you seek Him, He’ll make sure you find Him, but if you abandon Him, He’ll leave you for good. Look sharp now! GOD has chosen you to build His holy house. Be brave, determined! And do it!

This is Old Testament language to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as our self by going and making disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded us, beginning with our own household. (more…)

Election Day Thoughts From the Bible

Hebrews 1.8-9 describes, God the Father saying to the Son, You’re God, and on the throne for good; Your rule makes everything right. You love it when things are right; You hate it when things are wrong. That is why God, Your God, poured fragrant oil on Your head, marking You out as king, far above Your dear companions.

This country was founded by people who were seeking a place to worship God as they believed best, free from government rules and regulations, in order to live lives pleasing to Him. So many came and so many worshiped Him in so many different ways. The one common denominator among them was their focus upon Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Effective Prayers

Daniel 9.15-17 laments, Master, you are our God, for you delivered your people from the land of Egypt in a show of power—people are still talking about it! We confess that we have sinned, that we have lived bad lives….We know it’s our fault that this has happened, all because of our sins and our parents’ sins, and now we’re an embarrassment to everyone around us. We’re a blot on the neighborhood….Act out of Who You are, not out of what we are.

Daniel read God’s word so he could know God’s will, then he prayed for God’s people to be restored to God’s will as described in God’s word. Daniel understood from God’s word that God’s people were disobedient to God’s will which explained their current calamity. (more…)
