(Gal) 6:12, 14-15 CJB “It is those who want to look good outwardly who are trying to get you to be circumcised. The only reason they are doing it is to escape persecution for preaching about the Messiah’s execution-stake. But as for me, Heaven forbid that I should boast about anything except the execution-stake of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah! Through him, as far as I am concerned, the world has been put to death on the stake; and through him, as far as the world is concerned, I have been put to death on the stake. For neither being circumcised nor being uncircumcised matters; what matters is being a new creation.”
In Galatians, Paul exposed men who encouraged circumcision—not because it pleased God, but because it kept them from being persecuted by the Jewish culture. They preferred acceptance over obedience.
Nothing has changed.
Many churches and professing Christians still compromise biblical truth to gain cultural approval rather than endure cultural opposition.
The Culture Changes—God’s Word Does Not
Today’s pressure looks different, but the temptation is the same.
Rather than calling people to repentance, many attempt to reshape Christianity so it fits the values of modern culture.
One obvious example is the attempt to blend biblical Christianity with lifestyles that God’s Word clearly identifies as sinful.
The goal is acceptance.
The cost is truth.
The Crucified Life Boasts Only in Christ
Paul’s response was unmistakable.
“May I never boast except in the execution-stake of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.”
The cross is more than the place where our sins were forgiven.
It is the place where our old life died.
The believer no longer lives to gain the world’s approval.
He now lives to please Christ.
That is the crucified life.
Taking Up Your Cross Daily
Jesus calls every disciple to take up his cross daily.
That means dying daily.
- Dying to self-rule.
- Dying to sinful desires.
- Dying to the need for cultural approval.
- Dying to the temptation to redefine God’s truth.
Our flesh wants comfort.
Our Lord calls us to obedience.
A New Creation Lives Differently
Paul reminds us:
“Neither being circumcised nor being uncircumcised matters; what matters is being a new creation.”
Christianity is not external religion.
It is supernatural transformation.
God does not simply improve our behavior.
He gives us a new heart, a new identity, and a new purpose.
By the Holy Spirit we become the men He created us to be.
God’s Design Is Better Than the Culture’s
The culture says:
“Be whoever you want to be.”
God says:
“Become who I created you to be.”
The culture says:
“Follow your heart.”
God says:
“Follow My Son.”
His commands are not burdensome.
They reflect His holy character and always lead to our greatest good.
Every Man Will Pay a Price
No one escapes suffering.
You will either:
- suffer the rejection of the culture because you obey Christ…
or
- suffer the judgment of God because you rejected Christ.
There is a cost either way.
Choose the temporary cost that leads to eternal joy.
Run Today’s Play
Following Jesus means embracing the crucified life every single day.
- Ask yourself: Whose approval matters most to me today—God’s or the world’s?
- Identify one area where you are tempted to compromise biblical truth.
- Surrender that area to Christ and choose obedience.
- Read Galatians 6:14-15 and thank Jesus that your identity is found in being a new creation.
- Live today so that your greatest boast is the cross of Christ, not the applause of people.
The world celebrates compromise. God honors faithfulness. Live as a man whose life has been crucified with Christ.
