The Prescription For Healing Our Land

“¶“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each according to his way,” declares Lord Yahweh. “Turn back and turn away from all your transgressions, so that iniquity may not become a stumbling block to you. “Cast away from yourselves all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Now why will you die, O house of Israel? “For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares Lord Yahweh. “Therefore, turn back and live.”” Ezekiel 18:30-32 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/ezk.18.32.LSB

What is the secret to a healed nation, to our country restored to righteousness? The church turning back and turning away from evil. If we want a better world, we must become a better church. God’s people are responsible for living His way, resulting in His blessing that heals the land. What have we been doing instead of living righteously? We have been living self-consuming lives. We have not done the work of making disciples, teaching everyone everywhere to obey everything Jesus commands. We have ignored God, allocating our time to Him in ‘verse of the day’ bites and weekly sermons watched from our homes instead of with the people of God. We can measure ourselves by the basics of God’s requirements of us to see if we are genuinely turning toward Him and obediently working to see His kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Are we daily in the Scriptures, reading, studying, and meditating upon them? Praying through them for application of them in our lives and through our lives? Are we giving generously to the cause of Christ? Are we consistently serving the work of seeing people believe in Christ and grow in their faith in Christ? Are we always sharing the gospel with those in our lives separated from Him, terrified they will die apart from Him, spending eternity in hell rather than heaven? These simple disciplines, scripture, prayer, giving, serving, and sharing, are fundamental to the Christian life. Still, they have been largely ignored by the majority of the church, becoming something we dabble in, giving minimal effort to, resulting in a world that is increasingly hostile to God and one another. If we would see healing in our land, then we, the church, must turn back and turn away from doing that which ignores God and to that which builds the kingdom of God on earth for the glory of our God in heaven.
