Why Evil Persists in the World

Jonah 4.2 describes,  I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger andimage abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.

No other god in any holy book is described as loving and compassionate, gracious and slow to anger. The One True God stands alone in this characterization of Who God really is and what He is really like.

The God described in the Christian Bible views Himself as the Creator of all humanity, both male and female having made from one man all people from all tongues and all races for His good pleasure to live with Him eternally. He invites us to call Him Father for He sees us as His children.

The Muslims, the Hindus, the Siks, the Mormons, the Jehovah Witnesses, no other religion paints such a picture of God. Their god is petty, vain and discriminatory, separating people either by gender and or by race. Their god is small, mean spirited and vengeful justifying various inhumanities to humanity by their adherents.

The One True God commands His people to love one another including their enemies and to go the extra mile to demonstrate such love even as He left heaven to live among us being rejected and murdered by men.

God understands injustice and evil for He allowed Himself to experience such at the hands of men when He lived among us. But this dishonor and disregard did not defeat Him, for He is God and so He rose from the dead appearing to His friends and promising to reappear again some day to establish His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven forever.

Until then God is patient with humanity while we kill and devour one another, while we mistreat and malign each other begging, pleading, inviting us to return to Him so that we can be forgiven for our evil and empowered by His Spirit to do His will on earth.

Evil abounds because God is slow to stop it. He chooses instead to give every person every chance to return to Him for restoration and reconciliation.

God takes no delight in the death of anyone but invites everyone everywhere to choose life so that they may live forever with God in peace, joy and love.
