Working With God

“So he told them, “My Father is working until now, and I too am working.” For this reason the Jewish leaders were trying even harder to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.” John 5:17-18 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/jhn.5.18.NET

Before man ever sinned against God, he was assigned work. His work was to make the creation fruitful and glorious to God the Father. Given lordship over the raw creation, Adam was to serve God by caring, developing, enhancing, protecting, and pruning all that God had made for the glory of God. Then Adam sinned and ruined everything, which continues to this day, for his DNA is in our blood, so we think first of ourselves and use everything else to please ourselves. God does not sit by and watch but has moved and continues to move to redeem humanity and His creation. God loves the world, all He made, especially everyone who has been made. God has come to earth to save in Jesus, God in human flesh so that human flesh can live forever with God. This work of redemption has likewise been entrusted to the people of God. Now the church works by caring, loving, serving, sacrificing, and sharing the love of God in Jesus the Savior so that all people can be restored to God. God works by His Spirit, and those who love Him work by their hands and speech to reconcile people to God through Jesus the Savior. Jesus is God. He came into the world to save sinners. We all sin against God and need a Savior, and Jesus alone is that Savior. God has given no other Name for saving men. The actual work of God is bearing Jesus’ Name and, by His Name, reconciling people to God.
