“The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I bear witness about it, that its deeds are evil.” (John 7:7 LSB) https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB#John_7:7
Why did the world hate Jesus when God lived among us as one of us? Because He said our deeds were evil. We must be convinced that our deeds are evil and that we need a savior before we are able to be reconciled to God. As long as we believe we are good enough for God to accept us into His eternal kingdom we will never be accepted by God. We mistakenly believe that because God loves everyone He accepts everyone the way we are and will overlook all of our rebellion against Him. We believe this because we are ignorant of what true justice, righteousness and holiness means. God is holy, God is just, and God is righteous, this means He must be perfectly obeyed, every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year of our lives. We are incapable of such living and so are evil before a holy God Who deeply loves us. His solution to our problem is to live among us holy in every way, perfect every day, then die in our place for our sins. Jesus sacrificed Himself so that we could be pardoned to live forever with God. The justice of God satisfied by the sacrifice of Jesus. If we will not accept Jesus as our Savior we will remain on our own to stand before God Whose judgement will condemn us for failing to live as He commanded. It is our arrogance that thinks us good when we ignore God’s ways. Because we do not murder that does not make us a good person. Being good is doing good, it is not just not doing bad. Doing good is defined by the Judge of good, we do not determine what God requires, God determines what God requires for that is what He will use to judge us. The scriptures reveal God’s requirements for people and His requirement is that we come to Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins against God. Simple but not easy if we refuse to believe we need a Savior because our lives are evil.
