Receiving a Blessing or Being a Blessing

Psalm 81.10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

We all want God to bless us. God wants to bless us. What is the blessing of God? The truest blessing, the greatest blessing is the blessing of God Himself. A relationship with God that is personal, near, real, intimate, that is our greatest blessing. Is this the kind of blessing we really want? (more…)

Few Are Those Living As Jesus Lived

Ezekiel 7.19 describes, they will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem like something filthy. Their silver and gold will be unable to save them in the day of the Lord’s wrath. They will not satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs, for these were the stumbling blocks that brought about their iniquity.

It is our love for money that keeps us from loving God. We say we love God not money yet our love is proved by our deeds and not by our words. We don’t skip work, we work to earn the money we need to buy the things we want. Yet we skip church, we skip prayer, we skip Bible reading and study, we skip sharing Jesus with the world around us. Why? (more…)

Living Supernaturally is a Choice

1 Corinthians 3.3 describes, you are still worldly. For since there is envy and strife among you, are you not worldly and behaving like mere humans?

Most would say we are nothing more than human, what else would we be? The Bible takes a different view of those who have been born again, not of human will, but born of the Spirit. These people are children of God, saints, positioned a little lower than the angels! (more…)

Christians Must Engage The Battle

Romans 6.13 commands, do not offer any parts of (your body) to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness.

Christians must see themselves in a spiritual battle. We see the results of this battle all around us when we see men doing evil. The increase of wickedness in the world, is the loss of this battle by Christians who are to be engaging this battle for good as salt, light and leaven in the world. (more…)

How God Speaks To Us and Through Us

1 Samuel 3.21 observes, the Lord continued to appear in Shiloh, because there He revealed Himself to Samuel by His word.

Most of Christendom struggles in their intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. Most Christians believe in Him but too many do not really know Him. When we share Him as Savior, we seek converts, those who will agree with our doctrine and affirm such with their prayer. However, we are very poor at making disciples. The secret to knowing God, and experiencing God, (more…)

Making God Look Good

Jeremiah 13.11 describes, just as underwear clings to one’s waist, so I fastened the whole house of Israel and of Judah to Me” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “so that they might be My people for My fame, praise, and glory, but they would not obey. The catechism would state that the purpose of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Perhaps the 21st century version should say, the purpose of man is to make God look good to the world and enjoy the process. (more…)

Practicing Your Religion Doesn’t Make You Right With God

Jeremiah 7.23 describes, however, I did give them this command: Obey Me, and then I will be your God, and you will be My people. Follow every way I command you so that it may go well with you.

For the most part we prefer religion over obedience. Religion is easier. Religion keeps us in charge of determining if we are pleasing to God or not. Religion requires the least amount of effort and sacrifice. Religion gives power to a small group of people. Religion keeps things at the surface level rather than at the motive level. The One True God is not interested in our religion per se. (more…)

Making Good In The World

Matthew 12.33 commands make the tree good and its fruit will be good, or make the tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

The key verb here is ‘make.’ The work of the church, the work of the parent, the work of the community, is to ‘make’ good people so that good exists in our society. Who defines good determines what is produced. This is the battle we see in our country today. (more…)

You Must Be A Conqueror To Get To Heaven

Revelation 21.7 describes, the one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.

At the end of God’s Word, the Bible, where He describes the new heavens and the new earth, He says those who will live with Him forever are not those who believe, nor those who prayed a prayer, but those who conquered. What did these, who are acceptable to God, conquer? (more…)
