These verses can be summarized as obeying God so you can live strong and live long. Don’t we all want to live strong and live long? I do. While true, this principle is mostly true like a proverb, but exceptions occur as God wills. Even the pagans acknowledge that healthy living leads to a longer and happier life. God’s commands lead to healthier living emotionally, physically, and spiritually, unlike living however we please according to popular opinion. This is true because God designed us. As Creator, He knows what is best for us, so He has prescribed to us how we should live so that we live long and strong, for He delights in having us that way. Our eternal destiny in Christ will be living strong and long with bodies that never wear down or wear out. We will live with God in perfect obedience to God, unlike now, where we live in defiance of God and suffer the pain of death and decay. Praise be to God, Who came to us as one of us and lived among us in perfect obedience to all that the Father has commanded us. This One, Jesus the Savior, was crucified by men by the will of God so that He could take upon Himself the consequence of all humanity for their ignoring and disobeying God, which all of us have done. He was raised from the dead, proving His sacrifice was accepted to live long and strong as King of kings and Lord of lords over all those who love Him and do His will. These will be given new bodies to live forever with Him, like Him, long and strong.
