Following Jesus Is Not Following The Crowd

Ephesians 4.17-19, commands, and so I insist—and God backs me up on this— that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. They can’t think straight anymore. Feeling no pain, they let themselves go in sexual obsession, addicted to every sort of perversion. MSG

Where is the crowd today? It is hell-bent on the road toward sexual perversion. So many who claim to be Christians are joining those who deny Christ on this same road. How? By supporting LGBTQ arguments, these ‘Christians’ advocate for tolerance of their behavior, acceptance of their ideology and even special legal privileges so that they cannot be rejected.

So many of these Christians are young people who have been programmed by the media and the public education system that the claims of the LGBTQ community are true and legitimate. These same young people have led their Christian parents down this same road causing many of them to ignore the Biblical values, commands, and teachings of God about sexual immorality they grew up accepting.

This is the root of the problem. Too many Christians ignore the Scriptures but listen attentively to the media, in all its facets, so that they believe these sources more than they believe the Scriptures. This is best evidenced in the most recent election.

Ignoring the Republican* platform that supports the marriage of one man and one woman and the promotion of the biblical family unit they instead voted for the Democrat** platform that advocates for the establishment of the LGBTQ lifestyle even promoting it to the extent that it cannot be spoken against as evidenced by the Equality Act. This legislation, which has already passed the House, and projected to pass the Senate and to be signed by the President was promised in the Democrat party election platform.

Christians are complicit in their own deconstruction of biblical influence in our society because so many Christians know more of their cultural beliefs than biblical truth and hold to those unbiblical beliefs. The Church must address these things and encourage Bible reading, studying, memorizing, and sharing with one another until the people of God believe the Word of God unequivocally and seek to live and promote its teachings in their homes, neighborhoods and marketplaces.

God insists we follow Him, not the crowd. The two are not going to the same place or even in the same direction.
