While Jeremiah records his pain, he writes the words that will be fulfilled by God Himself in the Lord Jesus. God has felt our pain. He has felt the pain of injustice. He has felt the pain of God seeming to be far away and uncaring. God has felt the pain of family and friends turning away from Him and mocking Him. He has felt the pain of hopelessness. His response? Remember the character and nature of God, which is good and loving. Turn to the Lord and wait for His deliverance, for He is just, and He will rescue and redeem. The Lord is our comforter and will not forget His people forever, though they suffer in this world. We suffer because this world is broken, we are broken, and those around us are broken, bringing pain and suffering, injustice and persecution sometimes because of our sin and sometimes because of their sin. In our rebellion against God to rule the world, He allows us to rule to the degree that we can, which is poor. God does intervene. God does intercede. God does care, and God will restore to glorious perfection one day, that day when He returns to establish His eternal kingdom on the new earth with all His people who have loved Him and persevered in faith and trust in Him while living on this earth. We know this is true because after Jesus suffered, He rose from the dead, proving that He is God and that His promises are true.
