Imitate God by Living in Holiness. Biblical Love and Sexual Purity

(Eph) 5:1-3, 5 CJB “So imitate God, as his dear children; and live a life of love, just as also the Messiah loved us, indeed, on our behalf gave himself up as an offering, as a slaughtered sacrifice to God with a pleasing fragrance. Among you there should not even be mentioned sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or greed; these are utterly inappropriate for God’s holy people. For of this you can be sure: every sexually immoral, impure or greedy person — that is, every idol-worshipper — has no share in the Kingdom of the Messiah and of God.”

The Christian life has one great model—God Himself.

Paul tells believers to imitate God by living in holiness because we are His beloved children. Our standard is not culture, popular opinion, or personal preference. Our standard is Jesus Christ.

He loved perfectly.

He obeyed perfectly.

He pleased His Father perfectly.

That is the life we are called to imitate.

Biblical Love Always Obeys God

The world says love means affirming whatever people desire.

Jesus showed something entirely different.

His love led Him to obey His Father—even to the cross.

Biblical love never ignores sin.

It lovingly calls sinners to repentance because eternal life is found only in Christ.

Real love is measured by obedience to God, not acceptance of whatever God forbids.

God Has Spoken Clearly About Sexual Purity

Paul leaves no room for confusion.

Sexual immorality, impurity, and greed are not fitting for God’s holy people.

From Genesis to Revelation, God’s design remains unchanged.

Sexual intimacy belongs within the covenant of one man and one woman in marriage.

Every sexual practice outside that covenant falls under God’s definition of immorality.

That includes adultery, fornication, pornography, homosexual practice, and every other form of sexual sin.

The Church does not have authority to redefine what God has already declared.

Our responsibility is faithful obedience—not cultural accommodation.

Holiness Reveals Genuine Faith

The gospel forgives.

The gospel also transforms.

Those who belong to Christ are no longer comfortable living in rebellion against Him.

While believers still battle temptation, they no longer celebrate sin.

Instead, they confess it.

They fight it.

They pursue holiness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Obedience does not earn salvation.

It demonstrates that Christ truly rules our hearts.

Imitate God by Living in Holiness Every Day

Jesus lived a holy, pure, undefiled life.

He loved sinners enough to tell them the truth.

He extended grace while calling people to repent and follow Him.

His followers must do the same.

We honor Christ by speaking truth with compassion, pursuing purity without compromise, and walking in joyful obedience to every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Don’t let culture define love.

Let Jesus define it.
