Peace with God Not Man: Why Following Jesus Brings Conflict

(Rev) 12:9, 11-12, 17 CJB “The great dragon was thrown out, that ancient serpent, also known as the Devil and Satan [the Adversary], the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. “They defeated him because of the Lamb’s blood and because of the message of their witness. Even when facing death they did not cling to life. “Therefore, rejoice, heaven and you who live there! But woe to you, land and sea, for the Adversary has come down to you, and he is very angry, because he knows that his time is short!” The dragon was infuriated over the woman and went off to fight the rest of her children, those who obey God’s commands and bear witness to Yeshua.”

This is not a neutral world. It is a battlefield.

Peace with God Not Man Means Choosing Sides

Jesus did not come to make everyone comfortable—He came to divide truth from lies, holiness from sin, and God’s rule from man’s rebellion. The conflict He brings is not physical coercion, but spiritual confrontation.

The war is clear:

  • Truth vs. deception
  • Righteousness vs. sin
  • God’s authority vs. man’s autonomy

And when you choose Christ, you step into that conflict.

The enemy—Satan himself—actively stirs opposition against those who:

  • Obey God’s commands
  • Bear witness to Jesus

That’s why the passage says the dragon “went off to fight” them.

Why Peace with God Not Man Brings Conflict

If you want peace with people, it’s actually simple:
Agree with them
Affirm their values
Stay silent about truth

But peace with God not man requires something entirely different:

  • Proclaiming Jesus as Lord
  • Calling others to obedience
  • Living a righteous life

That kind of life exposes sin—and people don’t celebrate exposure.

This is why Jesus Himself faced constant opposition, especially from religious leaders. His righteousness revealed their hypocrisy, and their response was not repentance—but crucifixion.

The same pattern continues today.

How Believers Overcome in the Conflict

Revelation gives us the strategy for victory:

“They defeated him because of the Lamb’s blood and because of the message of their witness…”

Victory does not come from avoiding conflict—but from standing firm in it.

We overcome by:

  • The Lamb’s blood → Our righteousness comes from Christ, not ourselves
  • Our testimony → We boldly proclaim the truth of Jesus
  • Surrendered lives → “They did not cling to life even in the face of death”

This is not casual Christianity.
This is committed allegiance.

Peace with God Not Man Is the Only True Peace

Here is the hard truth:

You cannot have both.

  • If you choose peace with men, you will compromise truth.
  • If you choose peace with God, you will face conflict with men.

Jesus did not promise peace with the world—He promised peace with God.

And that peace is eternal.

Run Today’s Play:

Decide today whose approval you want—God’s or man’s.
Refuse to soften truth to avoid conflict.
Proclaim Jesus clearly and live righteously, no matter the cost.

Expect resistance. Expect pushback. Expect misunderstanding.

Why?

Because peace with God not man puts you on the front lines of a spiritual war.

But take heart—
The enemy is already defeated.

Stand firm in the blood of the Lamb.
Speak boldly in the name of Jesus.
Live fully surrendered.
