The Christian Life In Three Parts

“I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me, because my teaching makes no progress among you. I am telling you the things I have seen while with the Father; as for you, practice the things you have heard from the Father!”” John 8:37-38 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/jhn.8.37-38.NET

The Christian life is complete, ongoing, and future. It is complete in that all the disobedience we have ever done or will do has been punished in Jesus the Savior. It is complete in that the perfect life Jesus lived on earth has already been appropriated to us, making us righteous in His sight and therefore welcome into heaven. Our bad deeds do not keep us from heaven, and our good deeds do not earn our place in heaven. Jesus, the Savior Who died for sins and rose from the dead, has paid for our sins and pardoned us from them. Our Christian life is now becoming a perfect reflection of the life Jesus lived while living among us as one of us. As He lived to do the Father’s will, the Christian life is now an ever-increasing faithfulness and fruitfulness in doing the Father’s will. This will is the building of His kingdom upon the earth as it is in heaven. The foundation was laid by the work of Jesus on the cross. We who are in Christ build upon that foundation by leading others to Him through the proclamation of the gospel, the testifying of His work at Calvary, and in our own lives. Making disciples, and teaching obedience to everything Jesus said, is the mission of every Christian until they are taken to heaven. This is where the perfect Christian life begins, in heaven, with God and our new heavenly body, then upon the new earth to live forever with God and all those who have ever loved Him in peace, joy, health, and love forever. No doubt we will continue to grow in our love and understanding of our God, but we will no longer be held back by our sin but will be completely obedient to God in thought, word, and deed just as Jesus, the Son of God, always has and always is.
