Winning The Battle Against Disobedience To God

Leviticus 15:31 NIV records, ‘You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.’  https://bible.com/bible/111/lev.15.31.NIV

God is holy, righteous, and pure. God expects His children, His people, to be the same. God is omnipresent, God is everywhere, but God is particularly in the midst of His people, His Holy Spirit indwells each one who loves Him and has reconciled themselves to Him through His Savior Jesus the Lord. The work of God in us is the conforming us to Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who lived in perfect obedience to God in all righteousness and holiness. Half of living the obedient life, of living the holy life, is not engaging those things that God has called unholy, unclean, or sinful. Half of living the righteous life is not placing ourselves where temptation exists that causes us to think, speak, or act in ways that do not reflect the character or will of our God. The Word of God is our resource for knowing what God calls good and what He calls bad or sinful. We must understand this word so we can do the good and avoid the bad. This is why bars, strip clubs, casinos, and the like are typically not places Christians attend. Some will say that Jesus was a friend of sinners, so He would attend these places. Jesus never compromised perfection to save sinners. If Jesus would go to such places, it would be to save sinners and would not compromise His holiness in thought, word, or deed. Could we say the same by going to these places or others like them? Even paying for our children to attend our woke and godless universities places them at great risk of becoming pagans. Many godly parents can attest to this reality. Our hearts and minds must be guarded and protected. Our flesh seeks pleasure and power. The Spirit seeks humility, love, and obedience. We must fuel the Spirit and kill the flesh. There are many opportunities to do this. What are we growing and strengthening, our flesh or our Spirit?
