Ephesians 3.18 records God’s desire for us to have the power to understand, as all God’s people
should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

Psalm 107.2 asks, has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others He has redeemed you
from your enemies.
The need of the hour is for the Church to speak out about God’s redemption. The obviousness of this truth was on full display during the presidential debates. Character, truth, honesty and humility are the result of fearing God and recognizing our accountability to Him. My brother was sharing with me this past weekend about his diversity training class he attended prior to his return to teaching in an inner city school. Perhaps no greater sin currently exists in our culture than racism. (more…)

Whenever we attend a funeral someone invariably says, ‘they are in a better place.’ It is said to comfort the grieving but if we thought about it very long we would ask ourselves, ‘if the next life is better, why does God leave us in this one?’ (more…)
Romans 12.11 commands us to never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
Most men over 40 are pretty committed to working hard. We were raised that way. We remember buying our own school clothes, buying our first car and paying for college. Our parents didn’t have a lot and even if they did they required us to work for what we wanted as well.

Believing isn’t enough.
The regrettable consequence of the Church’s message these past 50 years is a culture mostly uncommitted to the ways and work of God. Since its founding by God, the Church has always had the responsibility to communicate who God is and what God requires of humanity. (more…)

Christianity has a long history of being maligned and despised. It actually began under such dubious marketing. What is the problem with Christianity? Why is it the religion to hate?
When compared to Islam and Hinduism, Christianity should be heralded as the only religion espousing women’s equality, intolerance for racism, and love for those who practice sexual perversion. Yet most people think Christianity represents the very opposite on these issues. (more…)
Acts 26.20 simplifies the gospel to the Gentiles: that they should repent and turn to God, performing
deeds consistent with repentance. So what does God want from us?
The Apostle Paul says three things are expected: repent, turn to God and perform good deeds. This is a much better message than we have heard from the televangelist or the people who knock on our doors with religious information.
The message from the Church to the Gentile over the past 50 or so years has been that God wants people to believe in Him and by believing in Him they will be saved. (more…)
