What Does It Mean Not To Judge Others?

““Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. “For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with what measure you measure, it will be measured to you. “And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” (Matthew 7:1–6 LSB) https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB#Matt._7:1

This idea of not judging is a popular hammer used against Christians by those who care nothing for the ways of God. Quoting this verse they mean to silence Christians who disagree with their moral choices. Jesus, God Himself, is not telling Christians not to proclaim truth in this verse but to orient their lives according to God’s truth and watch for others doing the same. Those who do not follow God’s ways will trample those who do follow God’s ways if those following God’s ways continue to accuse those who do not of immorality. The word of God is for the people of God to direct us by the Spirit of God into the life of God Who is Jesus the Savior. All Christians are to live as Jesus did. We are to love God first and most evidenced by perfect obedience and complete commitment to establishing God’s kingdom upon earth as it is in heaven. We accomplish this task by meeting together as the church for prayer, and exhortation in the ways of God and to confront one another, encouraging one another, away from the ways of men. We judge ourselves and the church by the word of God under the conviction of the Spirit of God for becoming a holy people unto God for the purposes of serving God by making disciples among all the world. We do not judge the world for they care nothing of the ways of God, rather we reveal the ways of God to the world so that the Spirit of God can convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement. We speak God’s truth to those in Christ for becoming like Christ and we speak God’s truth to others for revealing to them those things for which Christ died and which He will judge all men who fail to repent of those things He condemns.
