““I looked for a man from among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one. So I have poured my anger on them, and destroyed them with the fire of my fury. I hereby repay them for what they have done, declares the sovereign Lord.”” Ezekiel 22:30-31 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/ezk.22.31.NET
As America morally collapses, what are Christians to do? What is God looking for from His church, His people? He is looking for men to repair the wall and stand in the gap, not for His church to hope for His soon return to destroy the world. Repairing the wall means making disciples and teaching everyone to obey everything Jesus commanded. Our moral failure is the direct result of our disobedience against God. This disobedience comes from abject rebellion against God and ignorance of God’s ways recorded in God’s word. The latter, we teach and encourage all men to obey God. The former, we warn of God’s impending judgment against all such evil behavior. Because not all men will repent and obey, we pray. Like Moses, we stand in the gap, petitioning God for mercy, asking for compassion, and reminding Him of His work for us on the cross until everyone acknowledges Him as Savior and Lord. This is God’s will because He takes no delight in the death of anyone but desires everyone to be reconciled to Him through Jesus the Savior. Who are the men, the people that God will find repairing the wall, making disciples, standing in the gap, making intercessory prayers when He returns again as King of kings and Lord of lords?
